I had annual mammograms for 11 years, no issue; no family history.
August 2017:
IMPRESSION
Complicated cyst versus solid nodule in the upper left breast is suspicious.
Ultrasound-guided aspiration and/or core biopsy is recommended. The referring physician was notified of these results by fax.
The results of this examination were reviewed directly with the patient by a member of the Breast Health Center, and a written summary report was provided to her.
BI-RADS Category 4 : Suspicious
4A – Low Suspicion
Not sure what to think. What does this mean? What do I do? Who should I tell? Should I tell anyone or wait until I know more?
I told my husband. I tried to be calm and take deep breaths. I underwent the ultrasound and biopsy a few days later. It was a cyst that was aspirated during the biopsy. I was lucky.
Follow-up mammograms in March 2018, August 2018, and September 2019 did not show any abnormalities.
I had a mammogram today October 21, 2020; awaiting results.
I tell my story in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and honor those we have lost, those undergoing treatment, and those who are survivors.
