October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but breast cancer doesn’t stop as the seasons change. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women around the world. It is estimated that more than 2.2 million new cases of breast cancer occurred among women worldwide in 2020. About 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is not a disease that belongs to any one community or group of people; rather, it affects people of all races, ethnicities, and socioeconomic status.
This annual campaign gives us an opportunity to raise awareness of this disease and provides an opportunity to share important information that could be life-saving. Read our next two posts for highlights of studies that are advancing the cause to improve screening and prevention. Check them out; be informed and be empowered!
