CMC honors the living Earth and its natural environment. We recognize that many of the complementary therapies that make up integrative care are forms of medicine from the Earth.
For example, the Earth is infused with energy from the Sun. Similarly, there are subtle energies that move through and within our bodies that both come from the Sun and from the Earth. Some may call these energies chi, qi, prana, or breath. They constitute our life force, our spirit. By placing needles at certain intersections of these subtle energies just below the surface of the skin, acupuncturists work to open blocks, clear toxicity, reduce inflammation, and boost the immune system. Other forms of energy healing, including massage, reiki, guided meditation, qigong, and yoga, also work to unblock, replenish, and balance the flow of energy in the body.
Herbalists work with energies from nature to make medicine from leaves, stems, roots, and seeds of flowers, bushes, fungi, and trees that the Earth provides, and prescribes for clients. Herbal medicine may also be in lotions or oils applied during therapeutic massage, or put into aromatherapy infusers for clients to inhale.
Nutrition consultants offer support and resources for clients to eat fresh whole foods and supplements, including fruits and vegetables, nuts, grains, herbs, spices, and more, that all come from the Earth.
All of these forms of Earth medicine can help you boost and maintain your overall health and complement your medical care for strength and faster recovery. In fact, Charlotte Maxwell Clinic’s integrative care practitioners often also prescribe to clients to get out into nature—the local parks, beaches, forests, and mountains—to help recharge the body’s natural healing energy.
As we witness and endure the impacts of climate change, we also recognize our interdependent relationship with the Earth and the fragility of our ecosystem. When our soils, waterways, and air are polluted, the health of all who depend on them become more susceptible to disease, such as cancer. Charlotte Maxwell Clinic supports efforts that clean up and protect our natural environment and appreciates the many committed integrative care practitioners who honor the planet with healthy, regenerative Earth medicine.
