New Board of Directors Co-Chair Annette Walton is excited about her new role and looking forward to implementing Charlotte Maxwell Clinic’s (CMC) three-year strategic plan. Annette first heard about CMC from outgoing Board President, Lynne Srinivasan, and was deeply moved by the mission. Annette’s beloved grandmother had cancer, and Annette felt that by joining the board, she was honoring her grandmother’s memory.
“Unfortunately, anyone at any point in time can be affected by cancer, directly or indirectly. My guiding star was my grandmother; her healing could have been so much more comforting if she had the support of a clinic like CMC, her life could have been so much different if she had that support. I mean, she had us, but it’s not the same. Having the human touch is amazing! It’s powerful having the connection of other women that are going through it, so that you can share your stories; having a place where you can feel like you’re not different, but you’re special and you’re valued. To me, that spoke volumes to my core. That’s where my heart is and that’s why I want to do whatever I can to support the clinic. I think the clinic has this beautiful model that should be nationwide.”
In addition to her service on the CMC board, Annette is a Senior Director of Environmental Management in Stanford University’s Real Estate Division.
