“I believe Integrative care is the key to maximizing not only healthcare, but self-care as well, especially in low-income communities.  In Integrative care, as in all care, I believe we are an assistant to the patient; they are their own Healer, and are able to actualize this through education, access and autonomy, no matter what their socioeconomic status.”

Shawndria is the Peer Navigator in a CMC research project in partnership with community group Black Ladies Advocating for Cancer Care and Stanford School of Medicine working to improve the quality of life for women newly diagnosed with cancer and survivors.

She is a fourth-year, dual degree candidate in the Master of Science in Oriental Medicine/Doctor of Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine (MSOM/DAIM) program at AIMC Berkeley. She is a veteran and life-long public and mental health advocate who believes physical, psychological and spiritual health are interdependent, and that patient education and empowerment are vital to healing. To bring balance and compassion into her life, Shawndria loves playing Lola (her upright bass), traveling, cooking, spending time with nature and friends, meditation, yoga, lucid dreaming, and sleeping deeply.
